MoviSur operates in five cities in Santa Cruz from 1 November 2026: Caleta Olivia, Cañadón Seco, Pico Truncado, Koluel Kaike and Río Gallegos. Las Heras and Puerto Deseado are the next two, and there are ten further towns in the province where we are measuring demand before opening.
The five open from day one
A city switches on once it has enough drivers for requesting a ride to be worth it. There is no point opening somewhere you would wait forty minutes for someone to turn up. These five have already reached that point:
- Caleta Olivia
- Cañadón Seco
- Pico Truncado
- Koluel Kaike
- Río Gallegos
Rides between these cities work too. If you live in Cañadón Seco and work in Caleta Olivia, you request the ride exactly as you would within your own city, and the price is set before you get in.
The two coming next
Las Heras and Puerto Deseado are at the stage of signing up drivers. Once each reaches the number that lets the service run on its own, it switches on. We do not have a date to announce yet, and we would rather not invent one.
The ten we are watching
These towns are on our radar: we keep measuring how many people request rides and how many drivers sign up in each.
- Fitz Roy
- Puerto San Julián
- Comandante Luis Piedrabuena
- Puerto Santa Cruz
- Gobernador Gregores
- Perito Moreno
- Los Antiguos
- El Calafate
- El Chaltén
- Río Turbio
One more is under evaluation: Comodoro Rivadavia. It sits in Chubut, not Santa Cruz, but traffic to and from Caleta Olivia is constant, so we are assessing it separately.
How your city gets there sooner
Two things bring it closer. The first is drivers signing up: the more there are, the sooner it switches on. The second is people downloading the app even before it works there, because that is how we see where real demand is.
You can see the full map with the status of each town on the cities page. If you want to drive, sign-up is on the drivers page and it costs nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I request a ride between two different cities?
Yes, as long as both are active. The price is calculated the same way and you see it before confirming.
What happens if I request a ride in a city that has not opened yet?
The app will let you know the service is not there yet. You can leave your details so we can notify you once it switches on.
How is it decided which city opens first?
By the number of verified drivers. Once a town has enough for a reasonable waiting time, it switches on.
