With 115,524 residents according to the 2022 census, Río Gallegos is the most populated town in Santa Cruz: twice the size of Caleta Olivia and more than four times Pico Truncado. But what makes it different inside the network is not size, it is distance: it lies 701 kilometres from Caleta Olivia on Route 3, about seven and a half hours away. It shares no drivers with the northern corridor and no intercity legs with any of the other four. It is a whole urban network of its own, separate, going live on the same day.
